As you know I love to go on the hunt for fabrics...it's a rainy Derbyshire day today but I'm planning on a haberdashery shop and some vintage fabric shopping too...

The Pop Up Wedding Village 2014

 


























Last  Sunday, I packed up my vintage Crafternoon teas and set up stall in the beautiful old riding stables at Calke Abbey in Derbyshire for the very first Pop Up Wedding Village!

My pretty little crafty stand was big enough for me to bring my trusty Singer sewing machine plus suitcases of old fabrics and haberdashery.

To say we were busy is an under statement, it was crazy in a good way. So much interest in old fashioned crafts, hence I'm a week later on this post as I'm playing catch up.

I want to thank everyone who came to see us, sent us messages and comments. Your support means a lot. Crafternoon teas started from my little blog. Thank-you!!

I've some lovely new projects I cannot wait to share but first it's family first and I'm sorting my little L out for pre-school in the morning.

Day 6 #BEDM My Dream Job?

Hello Dear Blog,

I saw this post title on #BEDM and thought this one is perfect! I founded my own business last year when Little L was on nap time! 

Like most stay at home Mum's in their '30's, I missed working after I had my daughter. I had worked since I was 21 professionally and loved my career in textiles. Due to childcare, returning to my old 'post Mummy' job wasn't an option. We sat down and tried to make our lives fit me working too but we didn't have the childcare for long days and week nights away from home.

I now work as a Crafternoon tea hostess at www.samanthaschofield.co.uk and I love it. I create projects and host events as well as taking textile commissions too. Life can get busy but it's the right balance for family life. I love it!

 I love Mexican food, but all that cheese and sauce you feel stuffed after one course. So, I wanted to look for healthy alternatives. I tried out the Tacos for dinner tonight and they were great.

#BEDM A Challenge!

Hello Dear Blog,



After a week in France eating far too much cheese and patisserie delights, I returned home to my laptop hell which the lovely people at Dell are getting fixed for me. So, as I've been reading lovely posts on my phone, I've now got an emergency laptop to write on and cannot wait to start this challenge!

I have been wanting to take part in the amazing #BEDM (blog every day in May) but without my laptop I couldn't. OK so I've missed the first three but hey I'm here and posting away. I wanted to take part in a challenge as I adore my little blog I set up in July 2012 and before the Easter break was needing a creative break. It is good for the soul you know.

So this post might be a long one, grab a cup of cocoa and off I go!

Day 1. What's your blog all about?

Homemaking, when time is not on your side!

I created my blog just under two years ago, as by the time my Little L was eight months old I had some time between naps and wanted a new challenge! I'm that kinds girl...

 I had been wanting to set up a crafty blog for ages and I just went for it and never looked back. From this blog, I've met some amazing crafty bloggers, had my blog featured in Crafts Beautiful magazine and been approached by Hobbycraft to review product! Wow!  

I write about simple, vintage inspired creations for the garden, home and myself and my baby girl. I don't want to make it sound easy, but a truthful reflection of my way through making. Here are a few pictures from the first few months of my blog...

Half cake, half cookie chocolate cakes, created in Summer 2012. Gorgeous if I can say so myself.

Babysitter cake, our first night out when L was 11 months old, I made this cake for our babysitter to say thank-you to her.

 

Pretty die-cut floral Wedding card using vintage books to cut out the flowers. A really creative project, made on L's naptime.
